Plum pie with crumble

Now plum season and the regional fruit is perfect for baking cakes. I love simple recipes like this light plum cake with crumble.

Swiss plum

Basel or northwestern Switzerland is the main growing area of the Swiss plum family. Depending on the weather, the season lasts from late July to early October. We like to nibble the plums pure and I often bake a fine plum cake during the season.

Airy yeast dough

Do not be afraid of yeast dough! This succeeds quite simply, the ingredients must have all room temperature, knead the dough long enough and let rise – so can go almost nothing. I like to bake a light yeast dough cake like this. Thus, the Zwetschenkuchen with yeast dough over shortcrust pastry has the advantage that it manages with less fat and sugar.
